National Heritage List for England
The National Heritage List for England (NHLE) is the only official, up to date, register of all nationally protected historic buildings and sites in England – listed buildings, scheduled monuments, protected wrecks, registered parks and gardens, and battlefields.
“This is something which inspires me to think creatively about different places, especially places which are underappreciated. I love the listed building search tool, especially the map search and use it whenever I go somewhere new, or even when I’m bored in my local area and want to see something different.
Especially because of my City of Culture research and the narrative around cultural ‘cold spots’ I like to find the beauty, culture and history that already exists. For example, on an Earthen Lamp trip to West Bromwich, I took some time to explore some beautiful listed buildings in the local area, as you can see here.”
